Our Ethos

Our Ethos

We believe that healing is found in the journey. And that your journey can offer a new and creative way of seeing the world - a world that is bound in connection, courage and curiosity.

We believe that healing is not a specific destination, nor is it exclusively individualistic. Rather, healing is a lifelong exploration rooted in community care with a well-rounded, holistic approach that sees through the lens of equity, inclusivity and reciprocity.

With that in mind, and using nature as our blueprint for the work we do:

We believe in the altruistic model of the mycelium under the forest floor that facilitates connection and communication. The mycelium that intuitively and naturally shares the excess of one tree with another tree in need - innately knowing there is infinite growth, harmony and safety in these kinds of symbiotic relationships.

We also…

We also trust in nature’s restorative model above the forest floor, which knows that (while destruction can come quickly), creation, healing and regeneration are often unhurried, measured and deliberate - always mindful that the process of building and rebuilding takes practice, patience and precedence.

Our hope in utilizing this blueprint is to help guide and foster these ways of being in the world - ways that are softer, slower, kinder, based in reciprocity, and ultimately more sustainable.

We also believe that joy is a cornerstone to a fulfilling life, and that while this work can be challenging at times, we deeply encourage a sense of playfulness, awe and wonder throughout the process. And while the world can feel overwhelming with its sufferings and sorrows, there is still so much beauty to behold.

And lastly…

We know that healing is found in exploring both the light and the shadow. In both acceptance and the resoluteness to change. Whether it’s through traditional therapy, mentorship, executive coaching, somatic work or other alternative healing modalities, our fundamental goal here at The Forest Floor is to help support that change… in you... in our communities… in our world. We look forward to the journey.

“Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under. It will lift you up. This is the trick. These teachers and philosophers who really counted, who really touched on the alchemical gold, this is what they understood. This is the shamanic dance in the waterfall. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering it is a feather bed.”
